Data security & privacy

Your players' data is in safe hands

Triple Whistle is built for youth sport. That means data protection isn't an afterthought — it's foundational. We apply the same security standards used by banking and healthcare applications to protect your players, their families, and your team.

Encrypted at rest

All player contact details, and parent and guardian information are encrypted in our database using AES-256-GCM — the same standard used by banks and healthcare providers. Raw data is never stored in plain text.

Mandatory two-factor authentication

Every account is required to set up two-factor authentication before accessing the app. Choose between an authenticator app (TOTP) or a one-time email code. No one gets in on a password alone.

Safeguarding by design

Real player names never appear on public team sheets or shared links. Coaches can assign a safeguarding alias that is used on all public outputs instead, keeping real identities private by default.

Built for GDPR compliance

Parental consent is recorded before storing any youth player data. Every user can export their data or request full deletion at any time — your legal obligations are built into the app, not bolted on.

Secure, tamper-proof sessions

Login sessions are stored in secure, httpOnly cookies that JavaScript cannot access — eliminating a whole class of session-hijacking attacks. All traffic is encrypted over HTTPS, and rate limiting blocks brute-force login attempts.

Player photos stay private

Player photos are encrypted and visible only to your coaching staff. They are never included in publicly shared team sheets or exported images — so you stay in control of who sees what.

Siôn has over 10 years of rugby coaching experience across the rugby pyramid. Being a product of grassroots rugby himself, his passion has been to raise standards at this entry point for sport and enhance sustainable volunteering that makes every throw, hit or kick possible.

Not having found a solution and leaning on his experience, Siôn co-created Triple Whistle so all grassroots sports could access quality tools without financial compromise — combining user-centric design with efficient technology.
